“Through the time of this vast universe, God has always had a representation and a voice to make His Will known to mankind. In this dispensation of which is known, the human race is ruled, God has a voice and representative; The Church of God. It is the Body of Christ and the only saving source for mankind today. The Church of God The Bibleway is a continuation of this institution, which has existed throughout all ages in Christ. It is not by any other that we claim our Apostolic session, but of the doctrine, which we preach. It is by our teachings and belief that we lay claim to our heritage, the Apostolic Church. It was in the year of 1971 that the late Bishop Eddie Lee Myers reported to the State of Florida that in Auburndale, Florida a church of such nature existed. Bishop Myers and Mother Margaret Myers along with their family and other faithful saints, such as Daisy Hird, Elder McKinney and Mother Marie Woods, Deacon and Mother Howard, and other faithful saints became some of the first members of this newly established congregation of the already existing Church of God that Christ established. The first church building was build with sawdust floors. Bishop Myers with many others saints worked faithful to build this small congregation and eventually they worked and built the present building at 766 Hobbs Road in Auburndale, Florida. Bishop Myers pastor the Church of God The Bibleway from 1971-1987, along with Bishop Myers in his latter days was Elder Matthew Clark (his son-in-law) stood by him and worked diligently to assist him. At the time of the demise of Bishop Myers, Evangelist Clark became the next pastor of the Church of God The Bibleway in Auburndale, Florida.
Elder Clark served faithful and preached in many new souls, such as, Ethel Decosey, Mildred Weeks, Minnie Mae Christie and several others. Evang. Clark lived as a dedicated vessel unto the Lord until his death in 1988. After the death of Evang. Clark, Mother Myers held the church together with about 30 or more attendees and about eight (8) true members. Mother Myers, Mother Christie, Mother Hird, Mother Marie Thomas and others stood faithful and dedicated to the cause of Christ.
In 1988, through God's plan, Apostle C.A. Cowart was sent by God to perfect the church as an Apostle to the Churches of God The Bibleway Inc. Installed at the age of 15, God had a plan. The fullness of the Apostolic Doctrine was taught and many souls were won for the cause of Christ. For years there was just the Auburndale church, but with ambition and zealousness, the saints worked to evangelize and start new congregations amongst the towns of Lakeland, Wauchula, Plant City and several others. Since this time many other churches have been started and added, Church of God The Bibleway has become an international ministry with congregations as far as Cuba, Haiti, Africa and the United Kingdom.
In 1988, the Bibleway Christian Academy School was established, which offers Christian Education to children from K-12 grade. God has richly blessed this church and the history of it can never be completed because we are in fact living history that will some day be read of men. The history of the church of tomorrow is being recorded today. So let us work today so that our children will have something to read tomorrow so that they can understand from whence we came.”
